1- Natural 100% physical sunscreen<\/h5>\n

2- Natural and organic ingredients<\/h5>\n

All the ingredients in Douce Mousse MD sunscreen meet the most stringent standards for natural and organic formulation (pesticide-free, renewable and biodegradable).\u00a0Main ingredients:<\/strong>\u00a0Organic jojoba oil:<\/strong>\u00a0One of the Aztecs' favorite ingredients, jojoba oil is moisturizing and humectant, and suitable for even the most sensitive skin.\u00a0Organic shea butter:<\/strong>\u00a0Used in Africa for thousands of years, this ingredient is highly moisturizing and softens the skin.\u00a0Organic sunflower oil from Quebec:<\/strong>\u00a0Rich in vitamin E, very moisturizing and softening.\u00a0Buriti oil:\u00a0<\/strong>Directly from the Amazon rainforest of Brazil, very rich in carotenoids, antioxidant and photoprotector. Prevents sun damage and gives a pretty beige-orange color to our sun lotion.\u00a0Zinc oxide:\u00a0<\/strong>Highly effective natural ingredient for sun protection. Becomes transparent on application when added to a quality formulation.<\/p>\n

3- No nanoparticles<\/h5>\n

Almost all sun lotions that use chemical filters are absorbed by our children's skin. On the other hand, even natural ingredients like titanium dioxide and zinc oxide can be composed of nanoparticles, too fine to remain on the skin's surface. Look for products labelled \"nanoparticle-free\".<\/p>\n

4 - High protection with SPF 30+.<\/h5>\n

SPF 30 is an excellent and sufficient choice for sun protection. Our sunscreen displays 30+ because the results obtained by a certified independent laboratory were superior to an SPF of 30.\u00a0What is SPF?<\/strong>\u00a0The protection factor is the SPF (Sun Protection Factor). This index mainly measures the duration of your sun protection after application. The SPF is multiplied by 10 minutes, which is equivalent to 300 minutes, or 5 hours for an SPF of 30. Your dermatologist recommends an SPF of 75? Tell him or her that no product can have an SPF higher than 50, according to the new regulations of the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), which has jurisdiction in Canada. An SPF of 75 won't offer your child any better protection. Many consumers mistakenly believe that an SPF of 50 offers twice as much protection as an SPF of 25. Duration alone is a significant factor. In the marketing frenzy for suncare products, some manufacturers are taking advantage of consumer confusion and offering SPFs of 90 and even 100.<\/p>\n

5- Approved by Health Canada<\/h5>\n

To be sold in Canada, all sunscreen products must have an NPN or DIN number assigned by Health Canada. Our sunscreen displays an NPN (Natural Product Number) because it does not contain chemical filters, which are assigned a DIN number. Please note that Health Canada refers to the FDA (U.S.) regulations for the approval of sunscreens sold in Canada.<\/p>\n

6- No superfluous endorsements<\/h5>\n

Many of these claims are being challenged because, in many cases, they give consumers a false sense of security. For our sunscreen, we only use the claims permitted by Health Canada, and our organic ingredients are verified by the independent organization Qu\u00e9bec Vrai.<\/p>\n

  • Water-resistant:<\/strong>\u00a0The terms \"water-resistant\" or \"water-repellent\" can no longer be used. Manufacturers will simply have to specify the duration, either 40 or 80 minutes, for which their products protect in water or against sweat according to standard tests. With these very short timescales, you need to be vigilant and apply more than once when playing in the water, regardless of what the product says.<\/li>\n
  • Approved by trade associations<\/strong>Many products are recognized or approved by various professional associations. Note that in most cases, the manufacturer simply has to pay a fee to the association and meet a few conditions. Many products bearing this label have not been tested.<\/li>\n
  • Hypoallergenic:<\/strong>\u00a0All sunscreens, whether physical or chemical, and even those labelled hypoallergenic, should always be subjected to a small skin test. By applying a small amount to the inside of an arm or to a calf, and observing the skin after a few hours, you'll get your answer in most cases. Observe the area again after 48 hours to confirm the result.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
